Push notifications

They checked their phone 96 times today.

You can be on that screen. Free. Unlimited. On every plan.

No opt-in process·No cost per message·Lock screen delivery

SMS costs money per message. Email gets ignored. Push gets seen.

At 5,000 card holders sending two campaigns a month, Twilio SMS runs ~$131/mo in message costs alone — before number rental, before 10DLC registration, before compliance tooling. Klaviyo email runs ~$100/mo at that list size, with a 25–37% open rate. A push notification through Apple Wallet or Google Wallet costs $0.00 to send, lands on the lock screen, and is seen by ~90% of recipients. Push messaging cost does not scale with list size. A business with 5,000 card holders pays the same $0 as a business with 300.

The channel your customers already use. The only one that's free.

Six triggers

Six ways your card talks to them without you doing anything.

All plans

Transaction push

Every scan fires a confirmation. Their balance, updated.

Every time a customer's card is scanned — stamp added, reward redeemed, class attended — a push notification fires automatically. Their balance updates. Your brand appears on their lock screen. Set up once. Runs forever. Available on every plan.

  • Fires on every scan — no manual trigger
  • Shows updated balance and reward progress
  • Reinforces your brand between visits

Broadcast push

You write it. You send it. Every card holder sees it.

New menu item. Flash sale. Event tonight. A broadcast push reaches every card holder in your database simultaneously — in seconds, at zero cost. No list management. No campaign setup. Write the message, hit send.

  • Send to all card holders or a filtered segment
  • No character limit — but shorter converts better
  • Delivery in seconds, not hours

Pro

Win-back push

28 days of silence. An automatic reminder fires.

When a card holder hasn't been in for 28 days, a push notification fires automatically. No list to manage. No campaign to schedule. The rule runs in the background while you run the business. The customer who was drifting gets a reason to come back — without you noticing they'd gone.

  • Trigger interval configurable — 14, 21, 28 days
  • Fires per individual card holder, not a batch send
  • Set once. Runs forever. Zero maintenance.

Pro

Geolocation push

They walk within 100 meters. They get a nudge. You don't touch it.

When a card holder is within 100 meters of your door, a push notification fires on their phone. They didn't search for you. They didn't plan to stop. Your card found them at the moment they were closest to the decision. No staff action required. No campaign to run.

  • 100m proximity trigger — configurable radius
  • Fires on iOS and Android
  • Time-of-day controls — don't fire at 2am

Pro

Feedback push

1 hour after every visit. An automatic ask.

An hour after a card is scanned, a push notification asks the customer how it went. A single tap sends the response. Your reputation is managed passively — at the moment the experience is freshest — without a staff prompt or a follow-up email.

  • Fires 1 hour post-scan — configurable delay
  • Single-tap response — no form, no friction
  • Responses visible in your analytics dashboard

You built a customer base. Push is how you talk to it.

Most independent businesses have no direct line to their customers. Social media posts reach 3–5% of followers. Email open rates sit at 25–37%. SMS requires legal opt-in infrastructure and costs money every time. A push notification through Apple Wallet reaches the lock screen of every card holder who ever walked through your door — at the moment you choose, for the cost of nothing. The channel was always there. The loyalty card is what opens it.

Questions.

Opt-in is automatic. When a customer adds your card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, push notifications are enabled as part of the install. There is no separate opt-in step, no TCPA compliance requirement on your end, and no list management. The customer can disable notifications in their phone settings at any time, but the default is on.

SMS requires a separate opt-in process, 10DLC carrier registration in the US, and costs between $0.01 and $0.05 per message plus a monthly number rental fee. Push notifications through Apple and Google's wallet infrastructure require none of that — no registration, no compliance setup, no per-message cost. The customer already has the channel on their phone.

It appears as a standard lock screen notification — the same format as a bank alert, a delivery confirmation, or a flight update. It shows your business name, your message, and the customer's current loyalty balance or reward status. On iOS, the notification links directly to the wallet pass when tapped.

Broadcast push on Growth sends to all card holders. Segmented sends — by visit frequency, last visit date, reward tier, or custom attribute — are available on Pro with custom automation or via the API.

No. Push notifications are unlimited on every plan. Sending 10,000 messages costs the same as sending 10 — zero.

If a customer removes the pass, push notifications stop for that individual. Your card holder count updates in the dashboard. The customer can re-add the card at any time via the original link or QR code.

Push notifications set up in the same session as your card.
